Final project questions

Final Project Questions

Artistic Statement Template
Name: Mikayla Pennington
Artwork Title:  Wonderland
A) Technique
1) What Art and Graphic Art techniques used in my work and how they support my intended visual message:
I chose my image because it seemed like a good idea to do my eyes, because I could use contrasting and I could make the main focal point the iris of my eyes. My background is super simple, but since it`s black and white it makes my eyes pop. The positive space in my picture is my eyes, and the negative space is everything else, so still making my eyes the main focal point.

2) What Mediums did I use? Why did I choose to use them?
I used chalk pastels, Sharpie, water color and pencil crayons. Yes I chose to use those mediums because they helped make my image pop and look fairly good.

3) Explain why your three conceptual drawings are meaningful to you.
My three conceptual drawings/edited images are meaningful to me because; my drawing was my name so it represents who I am and my two photoshops represent me in different ways. I edited a picture of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland because my final project is a picture of my eyes, and the Cheshire cat has some crazy eyes. I also chose to do the cat because I love cats and he’s like the trippiest and most interesting cat out there. My other Photoshop was a picture of my favorite singer, Lana Del Rey.

B) REFLECT by answering the following questions using the elements & principles of design:
     1. What part of your finished project did you find most successful and why?
For my final project I found the actual final image the most successful, because it turned out surprisingly well and I enjoyed using all the different mediums to make my picture look the way it does.

  1. What part of your finished project did you find least successful and why?
I found my name to be the least successful, but it represents me. It’s simple, not too exciting or extravagant. It’s just plain and simple, with a little bit of color added to it.

  1. If you had to do this project, what part would you change or improve on and why?
If I had to do this project, I probably wouldn’t change anything. Other than the ink transfer to the canvas, I’d try finding an easier way to get the ink onto the canvas.
C) Refelection of the Course
    1.  What was your favourite aspect of this class?
My favorite aspect of this class was learning about all the different elements of art and applying them in my projects.

2.   What projects should I keep for next semester? Which projects should change? Why?
You should definitely keep the final project for next semester because I thoroughly enjoyed it, but you should get rid of the Photoshop project with all the pictures. It was fun but it was kind of difficult.

3.   What are some other ideas for projects I could try with this class in the future?
Some projects you could do in the future are the final project, but to not make it a final and to do like three of them. But this time to give students a specific medium to use and see if they can create the image using that medium.
